SMB redhat server- a friend needs a hand
Hi all, I am in the process of setting up a server using Redhat FC4 and I want to use it for file sharing - media sharing basically.

I have configured the smb.conf file to point to the directory I want the media in /data/mp3 and said that it is browseable but read only.

I have then created a unix user (same as my windows login) and a smb passwd for the user - same as the win login. I restarted the smb server

I then use network neighbourhoud in windows to browse to the smb share... I can see the netbios name for the server (johnnosrv) but I cannot browse any shares as I do not has permission

I have looked nearly everywhere for this and changed users etc but still no joy

    Anyone got any ideas?

Hopefully anyone can help my mate out?

It is most likely due to a config issue in /etc/samba/smb.conf file. Can you cut/paste it here?
