    Hampton Bay ceiling fan not working
    I replaced an existing chandler with a Hampton Bay ceiling fan/light. The chandler worked fine and was controlled by a "middle of the run" wall light switch. The ceiling fan and lights have never worked. I plan to operate the ceiling fan and lights using the pull chains a not via a remote.

    I connected the black and blue fan wires to the black house wire and the white fan wire to the white house wire. The fan is not mounted under the junction box. I mounted it on a ceiling beam a few feet away. As a result, the green ground wire on the fan is not connected to the ground wire in the junction box. (I don't know if that makes a difference.) The fan is on a 120v circuit. I'm reusing the existing chandler wire, which is 18 gauge. The wires from the junction box are hot. Also, when I put a volt indicator in the ceiling fan light socket it lights up indicating that the light socket getting power but the light bulbs don't light up.

    I called the 800 number and they are sending a new wiring harness. But, since this is the is the THIRD Hampton Bay fan that I've mounted and didn't get working I'm afraid it's something I am doing wrong and not the fan. Any ideas on how to get the fan and lights working? Many many thanks.

    Black and blue to black, and white to white, is correct.

    If you are getting power to the light sockets, the bulbs should work. Maybe the bulbs are bad?

    Did you remove or bypass receiver?
    Maybe you are lacking Neutral. Need to check voltage on both socket contacts,
    Be careful test leads don't touch each other.
    The ground not connected will not affect operation. Should connect, Wiremold?
    It is mostly for, if hot wire broke loose in fan, touched housing, supposed to trip breaker, instead of becoming live. And later you touch fan and ground, you will receive a shock.
    I would test for power at ceiling. Use wiggy or meter, NOT Inductive type, They won't verify a neutral.

    Is it a remote fan? I was under the impression it did not have a remote.

    He says he wants to use pull chains, not via the remote?
    Not sure, But if I don't say something, He can't agree or disagree.
