    Co-owner of a boat I never see
    HI!
    I live in ONTARIO CANADA.

In Winter 2004 I co-signed on a boat loan with my at the time boyfriend. We received the boat in April 2005 and split up in May. Throughout the process I kept asking him if he could afford the entire loan, $60,000 on his own. Of course he lied and said he could.

I have been constantly staying on his tail trying to get him to push forward and have me removed.

I gave him several opportunities to take me off the loan but his spending is out of control and so without getting another co-signer I will never be released.

I want my credit back as this is preventing me from purchasing a house or being able to make any other large item purchases.

My question is, can I, without a lawyer prepare the paperwork to go before a court and request that this boat be sold for the price of the remaining loan? Or better yet, request to be taken off the loan completely?

    And,

Where do I find the information I need to begin filing papers. I have been to a court house once and the people at the counter were not very helpful as they did not understand what I wanted to do.

Again, I live in Ontario Canada and thank you for any advice you may be able to give.

    Burnt out from losing.

He can't take you off the loan and the loan company won't either. You co-signed and they don't care if you two don't even know each other. They just know that if one doesn't pay the other signee will have to step up. Don't pay any money to him or the loan outfit. If it goes into default they will sell the boat out from under him to satify the debt. Ufortunately anything you paid may have gone down the drain along with the relationship. Sorry
