    1993 Mazda MPV charging system
MPV, 3.0L V6. Had an issue with the charge light and fuel light coming on at the same time (gas tank half full). Voltage at the battery with engine running was 11.3 volts. Replaced the alternator and everything was fine, voltage showed 14.0 volts. Went for a short drive and charge and fuel light back on. It sounds like a poor connection somewhere, but I have no idea where to look. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Andrew.

Could be a big project. I am not familiar with Mazdas, but the basics are the same for everything. Start with both the battery cables. Make sure the ground cable makes good connection to both the body and engine. Then follow the hot cable to where all the power feeds take off. One large wire should go to the alternator. Give it extra care at both ends. Also check the field and any other wires connecting to the alternator.

I know that the battery terminals are okay for the electrics work just fine. The van starts with no problems - just no charging. I figured it was time to crawl underneath and get all greasy.

    Thanks

I have a '93 MPV (rear ABS) that is displaying some odd braking behavior. When I pump the brakes, the pedal travels slowly to the floor (it goes farther with each pump) until it bottoms out. Then the idiot light comes on. When I release the brakes, the braking returns to normal and the light...
