My frig is 12 years old... has been great... 2 days ago, started making a loud humming noise when running... what could this be? How much to fix? Is it worth fixing?:confused:

It could be several things that's causing it to hum. It may be the condenser fan motor or something more serious like the compressor. Is it still cooling OK? It also could be the motor on your defrost timer. You'll most likely will have to call a service company and have them give you a estimate. The condenser motor is about $20.00 and the compressor will cost you hundreds. If it's 12 years old I probably wouldn't replace the compressor.
