Infant, baby and frequency of urinating.
My question is what is normal amount and normal frequency of urinating for a baby.

Last night first of all. Our baby woke up every 30 minutes screaming and crying. Was very clingy and temperature was a little lower then normal.
We were wondering if it was gas, or teething or both. It was a very trying night and morning. Usually He is really good. We were loading him up on tylenol and gripe water.

My wife noticed that at night time he does not hardly pee, but during the day he pees often. This change has been in the past week.

I do not think he has had a bowel movement the last few days. I do not know if this is part of the problem.

We are always guessing and trying to figure things out. We called this 24/7 registered nurse program we have here then they let you know if it is a emergency situation or just give you tips of what to do and how to cope.

I also elevated the front of the crib, to see if this would help. Well, he seems better this morning.

I do not know. Anyway, If anybody can help with this let me know. He is almost 8 months now.

    Thanks in advance.

Joe my dear, the always fearful father, it is a good thing that superbaby does not urinate at night, there is nothing wrong with that. I mean how many times do you wet yourself at night? LOL He will be easy to night train when you begin potty training.

Now for daytime urination. Are you changing more diapers? How often is often?

If he has not had a BM in the last few days this could most definitely be the problem. When he was crying, was he pulling his knees up toward his tummy? This would indicate a painful tummy. It could be caused from gas, teething or constipation. Has he been getting a fair amount of juice lately? Baby apple juice works fairly well in helping to relieve constipation.

As for your question about normal amount and frequency in a baby, if my mind serves me correctly I believe it is measured in the number of diapers per day and that number is around 5 - 8 diapers a day for a baby your son's age. I hope someone will chime in and correct me if this is wrong, I am strictly going from memory now, and I last had to remember this 5 years ago.

Teething can be a horrific experience for both baby and parents, but you will get through it. How many teeth does he have now? He is 8 months old now right?

He is almost 8 months. Two teeth came through already.

So I should get some baby juice and that will help. I will give it a try.

It will help if there is any constipation, and get the apple juice. You can also feed him some baby food apricots, that should help constipation also.

If worse comes to worse a baby laxative suppository can be used, I have always kept some on hand just in case. They work very well and very quicky too.

Guess what he just pooped. The fearful father is relieved, still really cranky but temperature is fine.

Thank you Janine for your help. Very much appreciated at a challenging time.

When we are used to certain behaviour and he was the way he was late last night and early morning it was very concerning.

It is upsetting and frustrating when you see your baby sick and nothing you do seems to help and not able to sooth his crying.

I am so happy to hear about the poopy. LOL

Joe it is very hard when your baby is fussy and upset and you don't know what to do because they can't tell you what is wrong. It is very frustrating. But remember babies are human too, they have bad days like we do, bad nights like we do.

If temp is okay and there is seemingly nothing really wrong, all we can do is cuddle them make them feel loved and secure.

We can't stop their bad days/nights, just as they can't stop ours, but we can be there to love and cuddle them. It makes for stronger bonds later in life.

I know. That is what we do. Cuddle and show them that we are there for them. It is upsetting still though when you do everything to show them but they still are hurting or and upset. I know it is part of being human and it is normal for a parent to worry.

I always show my boy that I love him and care for him.
