Wasn't sure where else to post this, but does anyone know the specific requirements to becoming a police officer, education wise?

Each state is different, so you need to check that out with your state. There are Associate and Bachelor degrees in law enfocement.

Most states for POST certification only require a high school or even a GED.
But with that said, remember in major departments, there are often 100 applications for any one opening, so they have so many to choose from, most officers in the better paying departments will have at least a Associate and most Bachelor, some even masters.

While CJ degrees are nice, many departmetns are looking more and more into computer science degrees, management degrees ( looking for officers who will want promotions) Pre law classes, and to be honest with most, as long as it is a degree it really matters little.

A tour of duty in the military gets you moved up to the top of the list in most departments

In some states you can pay your own way though the police academy
(georgia is one of those) and almost anyone that graduates the academy will get a offer from a department before graduation if they are a good student, When I went though Ga academy I graduated number one in my class in academics ( not firearms) even though I was already hired, I had three other departments try to hire me away. ( should have)

It depends on the state, but mostly a high school diploma is all they need. That's why a lot of them are jack butts. It takes a special type of person to become an officer

In my dept. you've got to have at least an associates in criminal justice or four years military active duty. Then there's the physical... lol
