    Bankruptcy
In Canada, If my common law partner filed for bankruptcy before meeting me, and never took care of it. (he is still not discharged) how is the common-law person affected?

If he didn't appear for court dates can he go to jail, even if he is now going to take care of the bankruptcy?

    What can happen?

He is not discharged. His bankruptcy trustee probably is. When the trustee got his discharge, the rights of his creditors were revived until he does eventually receive his discharge. Contact the trustee and find out what the defects were preventing his earlier discharge. These things can still be remedied so he can get a discharge from that bankrutcy.

He will not go to jail. His creditors can come arfter him though.
