        Laptop keyboard problems

I have an acer and am having weird things happen with the keyboard

The following keys when pressed produce a collection of characters

Pressing a gives /. nf and sends it to the top of the page or window being typed in

Pressing the caps lock key gives # ';mhg where ';mhg goes to the line above

Pressing the tab key gives #[lkyr

Pressing shift and exclamation mark gives }_PJU

There are a couple of other things as well, more of the same and all keys to the left

The same thing happens in command prompt

Ok, there should be a number after 'Aspire', normally 4 digits.

Also, what is the serial number?
(Written on a white label underneath! I've got a Travelmate, so I know that these two items give the exact spec of the laptop and make finding faults far easier!)

Check the regional settings as it sounds like you have the wrong keyboard mappings.

Just got a phone call from the PC shop, it seems fine there!!
Am advised if it happens again, to take it back to them switched on.
I wasn't day dreaming honest!
