Hampton Bay fan light not working
The circular fluorescent light on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan has failed to come on. I took out the old light tube and it appeared to have been "blown," so I replaced it with a new tube. The light still does not come on, though the fan itself works fine.

    Any ideas?

Fluorescent lights have what is called a ballast. It is a transformer like thing. They frequently go bad, more so if you leave the bulb in long after the ends darken. I don't know that there is a good way of checking a ballast except that if they have power in, and a new bulb doesn't light, it is the ballast. Do make sure it is getting power before replacing it.

I am in the same dilemma and in the process of trying to find a ballast any ideas on where you can find those for this type of fan/light combo. My bulb didn't blow and I have power at the unit. I am guessing it is the ballast but they are not carried at the depot

In the case of these Hampton Bay fans with fluorescent lights, the easiest thing is to return the entire unit to Home Depot for a replacement under warranty. Otherwise contact the manufacturer for a replacement ballast.

My Hampton Bay fan used a TCP EC2T-36 HPF 36W Ballast, I found a replacement at Amazon.com under part no. 12536Q which is a direct replacement. All I can say is un-plug your ballast (if it's like mine, it'll separate from the top half once you pull the two locking tabs back) look at the pick at Amazon.com, it should be self explanatory. Once you have it removed Google the part number.

PS Please make sure the power is off first.

I have the same fan and recently replaced both the bulb and the ballast. The light still doesn't work. The fan works fine but not the light.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!
