Going to floridα in 3 dαys! But I got some Q's thαt need A's
Well for those of you who don't know I live in cαnαdα :) so the climαte chαnge from ontαrio to floridα is verrry different. I'm bringing my bαby αlong with me (she's 12 weeks old) αnd I wαs wondering if she'll need α pαssαport? αlso whαt type of sunscreen do I get for her?.
*do people frown upon bringing α bαby to first clαss?...do αll mothers with bαbies belong in coαch?.. i don't know this is my first time trαveling with α bαby:o

If you're flying you both need passports. As for sunscreen - get the highest SPF you can find, and make sure the baby is always covered.
Regarding the baby in 1st class - I know I would be annoyed if I was flying on a 1st class ticket and someone sat next to me with a lap child. If the baby will have his/her own seat that's slightly more acceptable, as presuambly you and the baby will have your own row and so not bother any immediate neighbors. But you can still expect some frowns from fellow passengers.

Yes, the baby does need a passport and if it doesn't have one yet you could have a major problem, I don't think you can get a passport within 3 days, though there is an option for speedy processing so you might be OK.
Take care of this today.
saraispiel19: the airline is telling you what they need most likely, as in to identify you and your child to the airline, they are NOT US immigration
Documents You Will Need to Enter the United States - CBP.gov
This US immigration website says in general in all cases a passport or visa is required.

"...would αllow U.S. αnd Cαnαdiαn citizens, αges 15 αnd younger with pαrentαl consent, to cross the border αt lαnd αnd seα ports with α certified copy of their birth certificαte αs αn αlternαtive to α pαssport or other WHTI compliαnt identity cαrd."

Also if your still not sure call the airport and ask to speak to a US customs officer (not Canada Customs) or call your local passport office, they should know the current law regarding passports for babies.
The site I posted does not make any mention of special rules for babies so I assume there is none or it would be written there.

Ahh - now you tell us! You're driving to Detroit and then flying from there to FL? You could have saved all this if you had mentioned that little fact before! Yes, no passport needed - use the baby's birth certificate. That'll work for now - in the near future the requirement for passports will be extended to include people who drive across the border as well (beginning next January, I believe).

Then this is COMPLETELY different. You can and always have been able to drive into the US with a birth certificate, flights within the US are not subject to any immigration laws as long as you have a valid ID, your flying. Canadian citizens in the US can fly on birth certificates.
