    Boil or Carbuncle or abscess?
A few days ago I got a small sore on my stomach it has grown to about the size of a quarter with pain, reddening, and the skin is hard around the sore spot. I got it to come to a head this morning it busted and I have been cleaning it all day with peroxide and keeping it covered with drawing salve to get out the rest of the gunk. But it's still hard around it, is this normal since I'm sure it affected the lymph nodes? It's not as sore as it was, but it's really hard around the surface. I know it takes time for a boil or carbuncle to go away I'm not even sure which one it is. I don't have insurance I am home bound and it's hard for me to leave my home. The skin is red around the sore it's kind of wide, but I don't see any red streaks. Since it has drained should I be worried? Any help would be appreciated.

I had something similar happen to me earlier this year. My area drained as well and I was keeping it really clean too. The problem is with the lymphatic system that it can spread to adjacent areas. My best advice would really be to have you go to a doctor and have them look at it as you more than likely will need antibiotic. These things usually just don't happen they are stemmed from a bite, irritation or infection. My concern is that you have an open sore that you say is red and to me that calls for antibiotic. If you really can't go out watch it closely if it gets any worse than I suggest going to a walk-in-clinic as there prices are more reasonable and sometimes a really good doctor at these clinics can give you your medication for free as pharmaceutical companies offer promotions and what not. Just please watch it closely but if you can please go to a doctor.

    Sincerely,

Well I know it wasn't from a bite it is where I shaved so I think it is a blocked hair follicle or something ingrown I don't know. The area is very red not as red as it was, but red nonetheless the surface is hard. I have had boils before, but this is the worst one I have ever had. I know boils can get pretty big. The head popped this morning and I am cleaning it every hour with peroxide, or something. I have a bunch of stuff I am using. I am putting on the black drawind salve to get rid of anything in there. I am not fevered. And the area is not sore like it was I was in a lot of pain before. I am just worried about the redness and the hardness of the surrounding area. But I would think that your lymp nodes would be come inflamed with a boil? This is what I hope someone knows. Thank you so much for you answer I will try to get to the dr if it's not better in a couple days. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this.
