Vibration and Buzzing Noise from Shower Wall
Just starting this morning there is a vibration and loud buzzing noize from behind the wall in our shower stall. The noises began when my husband was taking a shower and have persisted now for almost 3 hours. We have turned off all the circuit breakers as well as shut off the main water supply line into the house, and the vibration and noise persists. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Buzzing and vibrations are caused by flowing water causing a loose object to vibrate against a valve body or a seat. I don't see how this could occur if you've shut the water off to the house. The first thing I would do is remove the handle and face plate of the shower valve and see what's going on back there. Let us know what you find. Regards, Tom

Problem solved. Although it is slightly embarrassing. My husband has a vibrating razor that he forgot to switch off. It hangs in the shower from a little hook on an anti-fog mirror that is suctioned to the shower wall. This vibration was causing the whole wall to vibrate. He's never been a Handy Andy but I must say this one takes the cake!

At first I was confused when you said it kept buzzing after the water was shut off but now I'm just just cracking up. Thanks for bringing a chuckle to these withered old chops. Tom

mhenely, you're not alone. This happened to my wife and I just now too. We were puzzled searching around the house. Then, I googled and found the culprit. Thanks!

AC Buzzing noise [ 1 Answers ]

My 2-yr old 12,000 BTU Friedrich wall AC unit started making a very loud buzzing noise recently. The noise does not occur in the "fan-only" mode, but starts about 1 minute after the AC is turned on. The noise is louder inside the house than outside the house, and seems more "electrical" in nature...
