    Prorated Rent
I live in Oakland, CA and was given a 30 day notice to be out by 5/18/07, I have called my landlord letting them know I'll be out 5/8/07, am I intitled to ask for the prorated rent from 5/9 to 5/18?

If you find it is worth the hassel of arguing over 10 days worth of rent, and especially depending on the wording of your lease, you may could sue in small claims court for the amount you feel is justly owed to you. Be advised: Read your lease CAREfully.

Keep in mind, also, if you pay $600 in rent per month, 10 days pro rated is $20 a day or $200 total. It may not be worth the energy, emotion, or time to do so.

Choose your battles, because not all are worth fighting. Just food for thought. :-)

If you you gave notice on 4/18 and 5/18 was the date you were to move out by then no, you are not entitled to a refund of prorated rent.
