    What is going on?
I am always on schedule for my periods but this month I was a week late. I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms (nausea, sore breasts, frequent urination)
It started with a thick brown almost gooey discharge then about 4 days after that it started with bright red blood. When the discharge started I was having horrible cramping in my lower right abdominal area. There were some clots, not large but more of a syrupy blood. My periods usually only last 5-6 days and I am now at the 1 week mark, and still bleeding. I would have gone to the doctor but my husband recently changed jobs and our new insurance doesn't start until next month. Is this something I should worry about?

Typically I would say no this is nothing to worry about because every once in a while Mother Nature throws us a curve ball.

If this period continues another few days or so, then you may want to go to a walk in clinic to make sure that all is okay. But to me this sounds as though you are just having one of those whacko periods we all get once in a blue moon.
