Dripping from T & P relief valve pipe
    Hi,

I noticed that there is dripping from my T&P relief valve pipe of the water heater, a gas heater, made from Bradford White. What is the problem? What should I do? Thank you very much.

Check the temperature of your hot water, if its to warm sometimes the valve will leak by a little just before it shuts off. If your temperature and pressure are where they should be, you can lift the handle a little and see if it reseats. You'll get a blast of hot water when you try this so be careful. You most likely will have to replace the valve. Usually once they start leaking for no reason you'll have no choice except to replace it. Make sure the one you replace it with is exactly what's required by the codes in your area.

I tried to lift the handle and it did not help. It seems the valeve needs replacing. Can this be done self, or it needs professional to do it?
