Hi- I hope someone can help, as my plumbing knowledge is not so hot.

I have a relatively modern bathroom, but this morning it all seemed to go wrong. The shower (normally quite powerful), had no oomph. Then aftwer about a minute it gave up completely, with nothing coming out.

I checked the boiler (Vaillant ecoMAX combi boiler - located in the upstairs bathroom I was using) and nothing seemed untoward there other than it was displaying a low temp 28degrees. I assume the low temp was becauase it had been idle (heating set to 'off')... and that the temp would race up just as soon as there was a demand.

Anyway. My shower has separate flow and temp knobs from the bath taps... but I tried the bath taps (hot and cold) and both seemed down on pressure too (hot tap lower on pressure than cold). The same was true of the taps in the sink upstairs. Downstairs, the pressure seemed better.

• I checked the fusebox (in case my shower is power assisted and a fuse had gone..but no).
  
• I also checked the boiler for pressure and it was in the 'green'. I did notice that I wasn't able to add more water to the system. Previously its been possible to turn the little tap under the boiler to add water to the system...but turning the tap had no effect today.
  
• I removed the showerhead in case there was a blockage there, but the pressure was low to non-existent without it

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not sure whether I should be focusssing on the boiler or the shower device?

No-one cracked this one then...

... here's the solution (for future reference).

The local water suppliers had obviously cut the supply, hence why the pressure was reduced across the house, and why the combi boiler wouldn't fill despite displaying no error codes.

Upon returning home everything was back to normal :D
