    Quitclaim Deed
I recently was married, and now would like to quitclaim half of my property to my new wife. I know, why would I ever do that! Well, because she will be quitclaiming half of her property to me! They are both condominiums, and we thought we could accomplish this without an attorney, as it seems relatively simple. I would like to know if one can, in fact, quitclaim half of a property over, and what the process or steps are... or if there is a proper or even easier way. I thank you in advance for helping me!

IF there is no mortgage on the property it is very simple, if there is a mortgage, it may depend on the state law and even if the mortgage company will agree in some locations. Also if you do it wrong, it will mess up the deed, even cause one party to loose their part of the ownership. This is not very expensive, so hire a title company to do it property and give the proper advice for your location.

I see, a title company and not an attorney... sounds much less expensive already. An attorney was talking to me in the $600. Range! Thanks!

An attorney would be OK also, ( but find one that works with mostly mortages, more in the price of about 200.) for example here, there are two attorneys in town that do nothing, ( nothing) but house closings and mortgage work and deeds.

** not all states have title companies.
