Flashback 2009 . The Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize to the emperor 2 weeks after he was sworn in ,for his hopey changey aspirations for peace .

At the time I commented that the only reason he got the prize was because he was not GW Bush .

In 2 terms the only peace process he participated in that actually ended in a peace deal was at the end of his Presidency. Colombia ended it's war against the FARC narco-terrorists . Although FARC was dismantled ;many of it's gang just joined splinter groups . But the future of treaties is uncertain ,so I guess he rewarded the Committee's hope .

Doesn't matter that throughout the rest of his Presidency he inflamed extremists passions . In his time ISIS formed and spread in the Middle East ;mostly because of his premature withdrawal from Iraq . He ignited the Syrian Civil War. His administration took down Libya and turned it into a failed state .
He sparked revolution in Egypt. He showed weakness in his dealings with Russia(reset ) . He kept alive Iran's nuclear programs and spread $$$ to help them fund proxy terrorist groups . I'm sure I missed some.

Now the Nobel Prize was voted on in January so much of Trump's accomplishments in peace dealing happened after they voted . I believe he should've gotten one in his 1st term for the Abraham Accords . He brought multiple nations into a peace treaty with Israel .

But as significant as those were ;he has outshined himself in his second term.

As I write this Trump is addressing the Israeli Knesset about the end of the Israel -Hamas terrorist war .

Add that to an impressive list that has been accomplished in 9 months

Trump got the US and Qatar to negotiate a deal between Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda .They signed a deal in June and have asked Trump to stay engaged .

He helped end the short India -Pakistan war by threatening tariffs . India PM ;now firmly in the Russia camp ;claims that the US did not play a role.

He has aspirations (which according to the Nobel Committee's Obama decision is enough to qualify for the Peace Prize ) in negotiating an end to the Russian war on Ukraine.

In the history of the Nobel Peace Prize ,4 American Presidents have received it.

Teddy Roosevelt got one for negotiating an end to the Russo-Japanese war in 1905 .

Woodrow Wilson got one for the creation of the failed League of Nations in 1919 .

Jimmy Carter deservedly got one for the Camp David accords that has made to date a permanent peace between Israel and Egypt. He also was recognized for his continued efforts to promote peace. (2002 award )

And as mentioned the emperor got one for his "aspirations ".

Trump deserves it . It is a no brainer . Give him one next year .

You are absolutely correct. Obama never deserved it, and Trump has deserved it at least once (now) and probably twice.

He is doing it and getting very little political capital. Even his critics are grudgingly giving him praise. What none of them mention is how he pulled off this Gaza deal. He bombed Iran and took them out of the game ;and then gave Hamas an ultimatum.

This Gaza deal will not last. That is my prediction. Already Hamas is regrouping and taking control of what is left of Gaza.......seemingly with Trump's approval

I applaud Trump's efforts . Sometimes total victory is the only solution. Ask the Romans victory over Carthage . Ask the US defeat of the Natives tribes. Ask the US defeat of Japan . Shintoism was gone as legitimate .

Will this end jihadism ? I doubt it , But it remains the same . The ideology has to be defeated .
