The Dems make the same mistake Clueless Joe Biden made when speaking about inflation. He cited stats saying it aint that bad instead of relying on the opinion of the person shopping in the stores .
The Dems sole argument has been essentially .... but but but stats say violent crime is down.
What do the people think ?
But across two years of polling from the Siena College Research Institute (SCRI), nearly 90% of city residents say that crime is a serious problem statewide and 75% say it is a problem in their community. Comparing the concern of New York City residents to those across the rest of the state, we see that city residents are far more likely to view crime in their community as a problem, and by a margin of nearly 20 points (70%-51%), they are more likely to be concerned that they personally will be a crime victim.

Trump is threatening to send the Guard to other cities . DC is a special case because it was designated a Federal City. I am open to the question of whether such a deployment is constitutional. ( I note that the left did not cry foul when JFK sent troops to Mississippi. )
Ill. Guv JD Pritzker (aka JD the Hut) is having a hissy fit shouting "invasion " "end of democracy " "Trump is an authoritarian " yada yada
Labor Day weekend is not over yet and the victims of violent crime in Chi-town are piling up.
At least 52 people have been shot, seven fatally, in shootings across Chicago so far this Labor Day weekend, police said.
Chicago shootings this weekend: At least 52 shot, 7 fatally, in Labor Day weekend gun violence across city, police department says - ABC7 Chicago
And these stats don't take into account other violent crimes or even your run of the mill mugging ;and theft .
CLEARMAP
This as local as leaders tout the dubious "fact " that crime rates are going down.
What can JD the Hut do ? Instead of blasting Trump he could deploy the Ill Guard to Chi-town. He could support reversing the SAFE-T Act
Beginning on September 18, 2023, Illinois courts no longer use a cash bail system. Instead, they use a “pretrial release” system as allowed by the SAFE-T Act.

I am dumbfounded over Dems hanging their hats on the notion that since crime rates are down (mostly because they have eliminated crimes that have to be reported )
FBI Stats Show Plunge in Violent Crime, But There's a Catch - Newsweek
Dem pollster Mark Penn has it right
The war is right here in America.
These numbers are families ripped apart; children lost; communities unsafe. And these overall statistics sugarcoat the areas with the highest numbers lost, which are five and 10 times the national average. This is not about politics, but about American lives.
The denial of this reality is one of the great scandals of our time and why so little was done to stop it until now. Every life is precious, and it's big news when a deranged individual shoots up a church, but the equivalent of that is happening multiple times a day in many places, and it seems to be hidden from the public consciousness.
Nearly 100,000 violence deaths in US as Trump tackles border, crime | Fox News
In a sane world the leaders of these states and cities would be begging the Federal government for assistance. Let's face facts . The reason the FBI came into being was because locals could not deal with crime on their own.
Trump yesterday said he would love the help the cities and he wishes that the Guvs and Mayors would call. But instead ;after a holiday weekend of carnage ; JD the Hut bragged how crime rates have dropped . Before that he sanitized a block of the city so he could do a PA stunt . Nothing to see here move on
'Just A Lovely Day Here, No Emergency': Pritzker Pushes Back On Trump's Chicago Crime Claims
Yeah the threat is Trump sending in ICE to arrest criminals . In the Dumpty Dumpty logic of the left it's law enforcement that's the bad guys .
I agree that Trump is probably on shaky ground to use the Guard in other cities besides DC. But they should soberly look at DC and the results of Trump's surge .
Certainly DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has concluded that the Feds are worth keeping around a little longer .

This is clearly open for revision because ICE officers and their families would be exposed to increased risks due to the practice of doxing

Guess I failed to mention one of the reasons Trump decided to act in DC
August 3 Edward Coristine (aka Big Balls from the DOGE team) and his girlfriend were the victims of an assault and an attempted car jacking . Coristine in defending his girlfriend got severely pummeled and beaten to a pulp by a gang of marauders (who just happen to be teens) .
Well 2 of them a boy and girl managed to get arrested . They both plead guilty ;the boy to attempted robbery and assault and the girl pleaded guilty to an assault charge because she pepper-sprayed someone at the same gas station where the attack took place.
Yesterday one of the DC black robed oligarchs sentenced them. Kendra Briggs sentence was harsh <SARC/>
A 15-year-old boy, who had pleaded guilty to felony assault, robbery and simple assault, was sentenced to 12 months of probation. A 15-year-old girl, who pleaded guilty to simple assault, will serve nine months' probation, according to the source.
