Pull the cover from shift lever area and notice a pulley by your left thigh when sitting on machine, this pulley has a belt from engine and another to transaxle. This system is called a speed variator and it is common for the middle separating sheave to stop slidding up and down. Lubricate and move the speed selector slowwly to fast and back to slow with engine running repeat process until it works.
