    Turbo tax e-file
If a turbo tax e-file status is sill pending, should I file an extension? It's nearly 9:00 and I'm getting nervous about it. I did a tax return for a friend and I don't want to cost her any money in late fees. Does it count that the errors were fixed yesterday and resubmitted?

Did you check the status today? I suspect that even if the payment was made on the 17th, the database that shows the money being paid doesn't get updated until early the next morning.

For anyone else who encountered delays during last minute filings, the IRS announced that no one would be penalized because of the problems Intuit encountered.

    So rest easy.

Agree with Scott. IRS has stated TurboTax problems are valid reasons for filing late with no penalties.

Of course, if a refund is due, there are NO penalties for filing late in ANY eveny.
