    Water Meter Sizing
I have a question about water meter size. I have a townhome with 3.5 baths, kitchen (dishwasher, ice maker, sink), washer, and a small wet bar sink. The meter is at the front of the house and goes about 35 feet to the back. Two of the baths are on the second floor, half on first, and other full in the basement. Lastly, I have a fire sprinkler system. I typically use 1 CCF a month. The city installed a 1" meter. They are charging $60 for 1", $27 for 5/8" , and $15 for 3/4" infrastructure fee per month. The DPW is trying to tell me I need a 1" to meet the sprinkler needs. From my research it seems that I would able to have a smaller meter. The city follows all the international codes for guidance.

Are you able to advise whether I could use a 3/4" or 5/8" meter?

    Thank you!

Wow, that's a lot of cost. I live in Woodstock, GA. 8 yr. old home, 1" meter to 3/4 CPVC. Average $45 month for Water and Sewer. 4,000 sq. ft. 3 BA, underground sprinkler. Yes, there was a connection fee, 1”, $1,170, but that was it.
