    NY/NJ tax issue
    Hi all:

My tax returns for 2005, filed in April 2006, have my New York address(family address. I filed as a resident of NY in 2005).

I have been living in my apartment in NJ during 2006. Also My pay check had NY address until August 2006 and then I got it changed to my NJ address. My w-2 has NJ address.

    My question is:
Do I have to file anything for NY? I was wondering since my 2005 returns had NY address and also my paychecks had NY address until August 2006. Also I work in NJ.

    I will appreciate your response!

    Thank you

Unless you moved at the very end of 2005, you must file part-year returns for both NY and NJ for 2006.

In 2007 and beyond, you can file just NJ returns.
