    Water drains OK when filling sink if I fill sink and release water runs out slow.

    Could be the drain pop up is set too low. What type of sink? Vessel or regular.

    That means your drain needs air. Do you have an overflow on your sink ? Also, what kind of drain do you have ? Is it vessel sink drain with grid ?
