Dear all,

Thank you very much in advance for offering your help and advice. I really appreciate it.

I've got an old washing machine which leaks from a cap at the base of the machine, whenever it gets about 30 minutes into a cycle.

The leak is quite light, but it is constant.

Please see the attached photos, which show the leak, as well as what the cap looks like when unscrewed & detached, and what the hole looks like when the cap is unscrewed. The photos show it better than I ever could describe in words.

I have tried tightening the cap, but that doesn't seem to make much difference.

The washing machine is quite old, but the problem has only started to appear in the last few months.

How can I fix this?

I see, there are 2 large black seals on this plug. See if you can replace them. If you cannot find them on the Internet, see if you can call manufacturer. They should know where to get them - or they will send you new ones. Replacing these seals doesn't require any special skill and you should be able to replace them yourself.

Order the new seals, for sure... while waiting for them to arrive, I'd try to put 3 or 4 wraps of Teflon tape around each seal, rub a little silicone GREASE on the Teflon and then install the part back in place. This should stop the leak for the short term.

I did some internet searching. Eumenia seems to be a German brand of tools. Also made washers. Long ago went out of business. I would clean the seals and put a couple wraps of electricians tape around the larger seal and see if it seals water tight.
