Confusion with return amount with 1099 MISC
    Hi

I was contracted for part of 2006.
My total earnings for the year were reported on a single 1099-MISC and were for the amount of $4,150 and I had no withholdings what so ever. Also my first son was born in September of 2006.

I used one of the online tax preparation programs that I got through the IRS website to prepare my federal tax and it calculated that I am entitled to a 600 dollar return. Is that at all possible?

Also can you tell me which forms I should file? For both the 1099 MISC and is there something special to fill for claiming a dependent?

    I appreciate your help.

Yes, it is very possible, because the birth of your son entitles you to the Earned income Credit.
