Hi, I had my IUD removed on October 28th. I did not start birth control right away, we had sex on Nov2, and the 5th. We have decided to have a baby. How long would it take for me to know? Would we have conceived on the 2nd? ( Obviously if egg was fertilized ) I have 3 kids from my first husband... but now I feel like I cant remember the steps. I know its only been week, but is it possible to be pregnant that soon after IUD removal?

If you happened to be close to ovulation when the IUD was removed, pregnancy could be a possibility very soon afterwards. Odds are it wouldn't happen that quickly, only because odds for pregnancy in any given cycle are not tremendously high, but it's possible.

IF you did happen to conceive with either sex on the 2nd or 5th, the earliest you could find out would be about 10 days passed ovulation, however, most women will need to miss a period before they would know.

Since you have made the decision to try for a baby, learn all that you can for determining when ovulation is most likely to occur for you. Some women try temping and charting, some try ovulation predictor tests, some watch for changes in cervical mucus, many do a combination of more than one. It can be a challenge, and not everyone finds the methods easy or convenient, but they can give you a pretty good idea of when you are most likely ovulating.

Many couples just enjoy the trying with frequent sex; every 2-3 days throughout each cycle can cover the timing for you (more frequent is fine for most couples if desired). They save the testing, charting, and counting days for later, if pregnancy hasn't occurred for awhile. Too much focus on timing it just right can cause it to become more of a chore than a pleasure sometimes if couples aren't careful. What you may or may not decide to do at this stage can also sometimes depend on your ages.

It can also help for both you and your husband to make any lifestyle changes that you know would be healthy and for you to start a prenatal or multivitamin with at least 400 mcg of folic acid in it while trying to conceive.
