Scared of getting pregnant after IUD removal
After 2 and 1/2 years, I decided to get my IUD removed on 9/14/2015 because I was having a lot of negative side effects(insane acne, psychotic mood swings, extreme fatigue/depression/anxiety, etc). My dr immediately prescribed me the pill the same day of my removal procedure, and I am not having sex for at least another 2 weeks until my new birth control starts to kick in, but I'm very worried because I had unprotected sex with my fiancé the night before my IUD removal and he finished inside. Should I get Plan B or any other protective methods?? Please help.

Hate to tell you but 2 weeks isn't enough for "the pill" to be effective. YOU want to go through at least one pack before that happens.

Use condoms for the next month...

If you had an IUD that contains a hormone you should be fine. However, remember that no form of birth control is 100% effective 100% of the time. If you truly don't want to get pregnant use both the pill and a condom.

I'll use the pill and condoms for the next month to be extra safe, but my Dr told me 2 weeks would be OK. I had the Mirena IUD before (hormonal) if that makes any difference. I'm just hoping that my activities prior to removing my IUD wouldn't get me pregnant since I haven't started my period yet and I didn't bleed like most women do after the removal.

Continue to use condoms even after the two week period. Women still can get pregnant using only the pill. I deliver their babies quite frequently.

As noted, while not wanting to disagree with the doctor, many suggest a full one month for pill to be fully effective. But. As others have noted, the pill is never 100 percent effective. (the IUD is much more effective but even it is not 100 percent)

There will always be a chance of pregnancy if you are only using the pill. A smaller chance, but still a chance.
