    Tax filing status
    Hi,

I was in US last year for 6 months on H1B visa. My spouse did not accompany me. Can anyone tell me what status I should use ' Married filing separately' or 'married filing jointly'

Married filing separately, or. More likely, married non-resident alien.

In some other post you had mentioned that "physical location of the spouse is not important" and going by that logic, shouldn't the status be married filing jointly (I am assuming that the spouse is not earning)?

You are correct. Married filing jointly IS an option; I misread the post and though I was addressing an F-1 student.
