    Confused
I just moved, double 8" kitchen sink has both drains plugged. When I look inside the cabinet all PVC piping. The main drain is above both drains and dishwasher drain by 16". Is this normal to feed the main from 16" below?

Water cannot flow uphill and would never drain at all before, if that is what you supposedly had.

    Mark,
The following are the photos, the main is the one with the attached arm, it's 9.5" from the main pipe (excluding the arm) to the drain. The main is 19" from the bottom of the cabinet. The sink is a standard double with an 8" drop. The drain is 19.5" from the bottom of the cabinet. There were 20 pieces that put this together. I think I should remove the main arm and start from there. Please give me some ideas.

No doubt the drain is a little high for sure. However, I don't think the problem is going to be the arrangement of piping. Your problem is going to be that the drain is galvanized piping and it's old. You'll need to snake the drain into the wall and hopefully clear the drain that way. You may want to rent an electric handheld drain machine with a drop head snake... should make quicker work of this.

After you clear the drain, post back with A picture of the drainpipes assembled and we will be able to tell you more on how to fix the piping arrangement for a better outcome in the future!

Drains already been snaked rain cold water for 20 minutes from hose to drain (through arm attached to drain). I do not want to reassemble with 20 pieces. Any ideas?

I'm glad the drain is clear. With that being said, I don't really see a problem with the 20 pieces... at least it was leak free and easy to disassemble. I suspect with that old galvanized pipe you will have problems again!

Here, as long as you aren't putting tons of garbage down the drain a DEEP trap should not be a problem in the long run. To repipe this in all new solid PVC pipe will definitely make it harder to work on in the future. Think about it... glad to continue discussion if you want!
