Water pressure tank problems
We have a Wellsaver pressure tank, LPT86 (about 15 years old) and I just installed a new water pump.
The tank fills up and holds the pressure and the pump switches on and off, as it should. The problem is, there is no pressure from any faucet in the house. Not even enough to fill the toilet tanks. I have bled the tank several times, adjusted the pressure so the pump kicks on when it should, have repaired all leaks in the house, unhooked all hoses from the outside. Could there be too much mineral deposits in the bottom of the tank that would prevent the water from being forced to the rest of the house? I've read that calcium deposits can clog the output lines of the tank and slow down the water. Is there any way to determine this is the problem? The pipes are all corroded if that is an indication. Thanks in advanced for any advice! |

Show us a picture of the plumbing.
Most of the time the well pipe comes into the house, there is the pump switch and the pressure gauge and then the pipe is connected to the tank. Sometimes there is a check valve. There is a tee fitting for the house plumbing. Sometimes there are shut off valves. The water is piped into the tank, the water comes out the same pipe and goes to the tee for the house plumbing. Make sure all valves are open. The tee for the house plumbing should be between the tank and the check valve if one is used. So should the pressure gauge and the pump switch. If the water can go in, the water can come out. The pre-charge air is between the tank and the bladder. The water goes into the bladder. The tank should be pre-charged with the tank empty of all water. |

The pump and the tank aren't in the same room. During one of the times I was listening to it fill, I heard a loud popping sound from the inside. Like a gun shot sound? |

Begin by checking any shut off valves between the tank and the house. Make sure they are clear. Be sure all aerators in faucets have been cleaned, as well as toilet fill valves.
When you work on the tank/pump, it is inevitable that "crud" will come loose and travel down pipes. It is quite likely that that is your problem. |
