I'm not sure what happened with the format of the original question. I hope this posts correctly as there's no preview.

    Hello,
    I have a:
    Carrier Weathermaker 8000 model 58WAV070-12 s/n 4999A11255
    Carrier Tech 2000 compressor.

For the past two days I've had these intermittent problems:

The AC fan and compressor run continuously cooling the house down to 69 degrees. The thermostat makes the appropriate noise as the temperature passes the set temperature but the AC fan and compressor continue to run. The fan switch is set on auto. Voltages at the thermostat and the board are Red>>Yellow 0V. Red>>Green 0V. Red>>White 24V.

If I trip the circuit breaker to the compressor, it turns off, but the furnace fan continues to run. Voltages at the thermostat and the board are Red>>Yellow 0V. Red>>Green 24V. Red>>White 24V.

If I set the thermostat to heat, the compressor continues to run, the fan cycles off for 45 seconds then starts back up.
Continuity along the wire from the thermostat to the board appears to be intact. The board LED is on and continuous. All connections to the board and thermostat are tight. I tried a cheap replacement thermostat with the same results.

The furnace and compressor will function appropriately for short periods, but then reverts back to this behavior.
    What’s next?

I've had my carrier a/c heat unit for about 10 years.. . Good service, but it has recently been making a sqeaking/chirping/screeching sound when the fan is running in a/c mode. I reminds me of the sound a car makes when the fan belt is slipping. Any suggestions? Thanks, lankford3
