Deadline for NR independent contractor is April 16 or June 15?
I'm a non-resident alien and worked in first half of 2006 as independent contractor (ie self employed), didn't receive a W-2 from anyone... is my deadline June 15th as per below..

"If you did not receive wages as an employee subject to U.S. income tax withholding, file Form 1040NR by the 15th day of the sixth month after your tax year ends. A return for the 2006 calendar year is due by June 15, 2007." from instructions for 1040 NR?

That 15 Jun 06 deadline applies only if you are filing from OUTSIDE of the U.S.

If you are located inside the U.S.. You should have filed by yesterday.

Thanks ATE. I am filing from outside the US-- but I played it safe and filed by Monday... or rather I ppostmarked it from here (in the middle of Africa) last Friday-- whether it reaches by June or by next week is another story!

If it was POSTMARKED prior to 17 April 2007, then you FILED on time, regardless of when it finally reaches the IRS.
