How old are you? Can you sing? Have you sung in public, like in a school chorus or a church choir?

Find another career first... because very, very few "singers" can earn enough to live on. For every 1,000,000 people on earth that think they have a good voice... 1 actually does, of that many... very, very few will even achieve their 15 minutes of fame.

Do it for fun...do it as a hobby....but don't count on it to pay enough to eat. Then if you get lucky...count your blessings. Dreams are good to have. But dreams rarely work out as planned.

Sing at every opportunity... school chorus, church choir, school musical productions, audition for any local theater productions, audition for local clubs, etc. Depending on your age, some opportunities may have to wait, but learn what is available to you now and just enjoy the opportunities that come up. The more that you perform, the more people you will meet in the field of music, and that can provide even more opportunities to grow and learn from.

As was said, you may never be "famous", but then again, you might. You may find that you really enjoy a career in local, or regional, musicals, for example, or other occupations that require being able to sing well, that don't result in recording in a studio.

It takes talent, drive, determination, and luck.

Everyone is correct, how old are you? What is your experience?
If young, you take music lessons, take voice lessons (even the professional have voice coaches)

And you sing every time, any place you can.

Also, as they said, very few singers make a living from it, or if they do, it is a average living, not rich. My ex-wife, has three CD, has been on two national tours, but barely was able to pay her bills.

My other friend, does every weekend at night clubs and other places, but holds down a engineering job to pay the bills.
