    Do I have to come off the top of the horizontal drain with my vent or can I roll it down on a 45

    Unfortunately, for a vent to be a vent it MUST roll ABOVE the centerline of the drain line... it can roll at a 22.5, 45 or 90 degree angle or just about any angle as long as the center of the vent fitting rolls above the centerline of the drain pipe.
