    Save receipts in Texas?
    Hi-
So I just moved to texasi9n march, I lived in New Mexico up until then. All of my income will be from when I have lived in Texas (99% of it at least)
I was wondering if I should be saving all my receipts for taxes or to just take the standard deduction (there is one right?) I bought a car this year (in new mexico). Can I claim it? In other words... what is the best thing for me to do? Is it worth it to save receipts or what?? If I need to provide any other info, please let me know :) thanks a bunch!! I will have a roth and 401k soon as well. Where does this all play in? Sorry to sound so ignorant, but I'd rather do it right from the start then to find out later I should be handling things differently :) one more question :) when I filled out my w4 what is the best # of exemptions to claim? I am single, no dependents, etc... I know I didn't claim exempt, but am wondering if it would have been better to, and if so, can I change that now, or is that kind of set in stone?

    Take the $5,150 standard deuction.

    Claim ONE exemption.

Good for you on the 401K and ROTH IRA.
