    Remarriage
    Assalam alikum,

My Question is about remarriage in islam. Recently a friend of mine got divorced. After a week they spend the night together thinking that they will get remarried. But according to the constitution they were suppose to register the Divorce in the court and fill the Iddah form. When they went to do so the Gazi in the court said they are not married by spending the night. The Gazi also added in shafi mazhab couples cannot get married by spending the night together. As far as I knew we can get remarried by spending the night before iddah is over. Can you please tell me with supports from hadith and quran about this matter ?
