Hi my father is here in the United States through bail and he is fighting a case with an lawyer he doesn't qualify for a forgiveness because he has got caught coming here four times or at least that's what the lawyer said. I'm a little confused with everything but one thing that concerns me is that the lawyer said my father cant work while theyr fighting the case? The "reason" why he cant is because he has to first file an asylum . I have heard from a lot of people that they receive a work permit while fighting a case. I need help on understanding. Thank you very much I would truly appreciate if you can help me.

If he is not hear legally, then he would have to get a visa, that allows him to work.
To get that, he then would be here legally.

Four times caught here illegally in this country. I think he has a better chance of being hit by a meteor than getting a legal status. Once caught here illegally there is a 10 year ban on reentry... four times flagrantly ignoring the law, and he might be permanently banned from reentry.
