    Dog throwing up food
Hello, I have a 2 year old shih poo and for the past 2 months she's been having a hard time keeping her food down. I give her Beneful and she throws her food up after about 1 hour of eating it. I've looked at the vomit and they are full kibbles, she doesn't chew her food. I then started crushing the kibbles really small, just in case the kibbles were too big for her to chew. She still throws them up even when they're crushed. I thought she just didn't like the food so I switched it to a completely different brand and the same thing keeps happening. She can only keep down human food, like chicken. I need help! I wouldn't mind making her homemade food everyday, I just need to know what's safe for her to digest everyday.

I suspect that she has a food allergy, but have you asked your vet??

Beneful and all the brands sold in supermarkets are full of filler, which isn't bad for dogs, but which is mostly useless nutritionally, and much of it just adds to how much is excreted in feces. And it's often the source of allergies. There are also preservatives in kibble, and she could be allergic to that. Or your store sells expired kibble, or it's being exposed to high heat in a stock room. The fats in the kibble go rancid. You can smell it! (But don't just go buy canned food, which has it's own problems.)

We could write all day about homemade dog food and what dogs need that is different from humans, but there is TONS of information online. Just Google 'homemade dog food.' You don't have to get bogged down. I give my small dog kibble which she tolerates, but I add bits of my food to the top - hamburg and chicken and eggs and a little green vegetable mostly, maybe some rice.
Certain foods MUST be avoided. Look them up.

If you don't see results off kibble pretty soon, PLEASE go to the vet. It could be something else, like an obstruction!!

After two months of not keeping her food down, I am guessing that she is showing weight loss and her coat is starting to look/feel damaged. Can she keep down wet dog food such as moistened kibble or canned food? Is she keeping water down?

Since this is a fairly recent development, I am going to suggest starting with a visit to your vet. Make certain she doesn't have any physiological issues such as an obstruction, issues with her teeth and/or gums, or problems with her esophagus.

Yes, you can make a visit to your vet, good idea, but human food is not meant for dogs and unfortunately her digestive tract has become accustomed to that only. Even dogs like tasty stuff.
