Craftsman Mower Won't Run on Hills
I have a craftsman lawn mower and it will not run on a hill. There was gas coming out of the intake when it was on a hill which makes me believe the bowl is overfill. I do not see any way to adjust the float. Any suggestions?

Hope this isn't too basic but I'd start by removing the bowl and checking to see if it has fuel in the float. The float should rise againist the needle valve and stop too much fuel from entering the carb. You could have a bad needle valve too but this sounds like a heavy float.

I took off the bowl and replaced the seat and ensured there was a good seal when the float lifted by blowing in the fuel in line. It seemed to seal fairly well. There is no adjustment for the float level but it appears to me that the bowl is filling too high with fuel.

You didn't mention it but I'm sure you checked the float. You can slightly bend the small silver tab that pushes againist the needle. Slightly, very slightly, bending toward the needle will close the float sooner.

It is on the 6.75HP and is all plastic. Nothing metal to bend. Wish it was metal because that would be an easy fix.
