Hi my name is reebs and I went to the hair dressers today and I wanted my hair dyed blonde by July for my holiday. I have red hair and went to get it dyed today and the hair dressers said I would go an orangy pinky colour if I tried to put blonde on and they don't think I will be able to go blonde by 12th of july(holiday). Does any one know how to make it fade faster because I have tried washing, hot water,clarifying shampoo, antidandruff, coke, sun light and washing up liquid and its not getting rid of my red I just need it to be gone and dyed blonde by my holidays without going a horrible colour! I have just been told that conditioners are meant to be good at slowly stripping colour away anyone know if there is any truth to it?

If you want to go blonde, minus the red or orange tones, you will need to lighten your hair with bleach and then apply toner. Anything other than that will result in an unpleasant shade. Instead of trying to fade the color with shampoos or coke, you should go to the salon and get them to do a corrective color. A hairstylist may do a double process, bleaching and toning to achieve your desired color.

I went to see them and they said I should just let it grow out! I have no idea what to do now I have put a ton of conditioner on my hair cause people say it may fade a little and my hair towel has gone slightly red so maybe if I keep doing that it should eventually fade enough for me to go blonde!

Hey reebs, the hiardressers can tell you whatever they choose but that doesn't mean they're right. One person said it before on here, just use a lightner, ie: bleach, peroxide... preferably a less-harsh bleach which you can pick up at Shoppers Drug Mart in a little package that they keep behind their cosmetics counter, then you need to buy activator for the bleach. I have really thick and long hair and have dyed my hair every color of the rainbow so from experience it can be done. In total the cost for the bleach is prob less then ten bucks. But you will need to purchase a filler... meaning another color of hairdye to put over top because it will go white. Hope this works

Please do not use any over-the-counter bleaching products on your hair, it could ruin your hair. Sweetie, salons have professional products that can lighten any hair color. Perhaps your hair is damaged or over-processed and the hairstylist is unable to do a coloring process. If your hair is damaged then you need to do damage control before you color it again. I recommend that you do a deep conditioning treatment once a week until your hair is in good condition. Once your hair is in good condition, they may give you your desired color.
