    Problems with car acceloration
    OK so it's a 1990 civic dx with a 1998 engine block... tonight I was driving home and its like all compression was suddenly gone... transmission seems to shift... but there's hardly any acceleration at all... it will backfire if I try o give it more gas...


    Any ideas what's wrong ?

    You can't even use a code reader on a 1990 civic... its ODB0 .

    The ECU flashes codes with an LED, you look those sequences of flashes up to tell you what it sees is wrong... you can spend more money than the car is worth GUESSING things to replace.
