    Excruciating painful pap smear
Yesterday I had a pap smear and it was so painful that I thought that the doctor would have to stop the exam.

She finally went to a smaller speculum but even the smaller size speculum really hurt.

Is it normal for a pap smear to hurt so much?

Can sedatives be given to make the patient relax and therefore cause less pain?

Have you had one before this that was painful (or not)?
