    Stressing over late period
Hello all. So I am 30 years old and have been married for almost 2 years. I started taking birth control when I was 18 but stopped taking it back in November of 2013 because when my husband and I do decide that we want to have a baby I didn't want to have to wait. Since I've been off the pill my periods have been mostly pretty regular except for the 1st month (period lasted nearly 2.5 weeks) but since then fairly regular. I've been charting my periods on an app on my phone. My last period started on May 31st which was a few days early. (My period before that was May 2nd-8) and ended on June 6th. My app predicted that I would be ovulating around the 19th of June. My husband and I had sex on June 22nd and 28th both times we used a condom and he did not pull out. We did try it without the condom at the very beginning of intercourse but only for maybe 2 minutes but put the condom on before he even was remotely close to ejaculation. Afterwards the condoms seemed fine and didn't look like they leaked/broke. The app predicted I would start my period on the 3rd of July and of course today is the 11th so naturally I'm starting to get concerned. I don't have any kind of nausea, food cravings/aversions, breast tenderness, mood swings and am not any more tired than I usually am. Not that it would be the end of the world if we have a baby we were just hoping to wait until the fall to start to try to conceive as I am in a wedding out of state in the fall. So I'm just trying to figure out what the chances are that I could be pregnant or if I'm just having an "off" cycle this month. I obviously realize I could solve this by taking a pregnancy test but I'm not sure I'm quite ready to take that step yet. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks :)

    Hi MrsOzzie1013,

Since you have been using condoms, odds are greater that you aren't pregnant and are just having an off cycle. As you said, testing would be the only way to know. Tracking your cycle with the calendar or apps will give you a good starting place, but it is important to keep in mind that ovulation can be off from the norm from time to time. This in turn will cause a period to be off, and on occasion a period may be skipped for no apparent reason.

Give it a bit more time, and if still no period, try a test.
