Separate ball joint from the lower control arm (LCA), pry LCA down, and install new axle. There is likely a Torx thru-bolt that needs to be removed from the ball joint, in order to separate it from the LCA. Spray the ball joint with penetrating oil and use a stout pry bar to separate the ball joint from the LCA.
