Dark Brown caramel looking discharge...
I have been in the birth control depo for over year my last shot was given in January and I was due again for another in April but did not get it because of the side effects I began to have I have no had a period for the whole time I was on the shot which again was almost over a year or right at a year.. recently I had protected sex and it it's now about 5 day after I start feeling gaseous with diarrhea and yesterday I was feeling abdominal discomfort in my lower abdomen not pain from the belly button down I still have no period and I'm worried because I didn't feel this way Until after recent intercourse... could the intercourse have triggered my period ? And is that where the symptoms are coming from?

Whether the recent intercourse helped kick start a period may or may not be the case. It is not uncommon for periods to be absent for many months after the last depo injection. It is wise that you did use protection when having sex as ovulation will occur before a period, so pregnancy will be a possibility even if you haven't started back up with periods yet. Sometimes periods will start and/or end with brownish discharge.

Of course it may be due to subtle changes in hormones, may be due to your period about to start, or the stomach upset may be simply that... stomach upset.
