Hi, I put a Scrubbing bubbles drop-in blue tablet(it's one of those blue non-bleach containing tablets) in the back of my toilet. A few days later I noticed that dyed blue water was coming up through the floor between the bathroom tiles. I reported this to my landlord immediately.

Now 5 months after this, my land lord is claiming that the blue tablet caused the leakage.

So I would like to know if this is even a possibility, because it seems extremely bizaare to me that one of those tablets would cause a leak since they are quite widely used, and I have also never run into problems using them on my other apartments in the past.

No the tablets don't cause the leaks, but shows that you have one somewhere.

You landlord is just attempting to place the blame and expense on you. No way the tablet caused the leak.

This indicates a partial blockage downstream that's backing up on the floor,
This can be addressed in several ways.
1- pull the toilet and snake the line from there. **OR**
2- Snake from the lavatory roof vent. Put out enough snake to reach the base and 15 more feet. Good luck, Tom

FYI: Don't use the tablets that go inside the tank. Use the tablet that "hangs on side of the bowl" in a tiny plastic basket... Tablets inside the bowl deposit soapy-like coat on the rubber flopper, eventually breaking positive seal of the flopper. Water will slowly start leaking into the bowl. Eventually, you will have to replace flopper to restore positive seal. However, as Tom states, tablets have nothing to do with water leaking outside the toilet fixture. Good luck. Milo
