Keyboard malfunctions in MS Office applications
This is weird. Today my keyboard has started showing the wrong symbols, but only in MS Word and Excel. For example, I type the £ symbol and here it works fine but in MS Word (and Excel) it shows as #. The " symbol in MS Word shows as @.
I am not aware that I changed any settings - can anyone tell me how I can get back to where it should be?
    Thanks a lot.

Make sure it's set up for english (uk) this is not a symbol used in english (usa or canada) settings. The language setting can be found in tools

Also check for updates to fix any more general problems your having.

Yes - I've already checked that and language setting is correct. Thanks for your suggestion - any other ideas? :-)

Try using the Insert symbol from the drop-down menu instead.
