This morning I starting seeing a message when I open my computer to AOL: "The Security Certificate for this Site has been revoked. This site should not be trusted". Does anyone know how to get rid of this message. Thanks.

Often times it is the date and time settings on the computer. Check your date and time in the bottom right hand corner of the screen to see if it is accurate. Post back with your results and I'll see if I can help from there.

Thanks for the answer. The date and time are correct in the lower right hand corner. (Windows 7, Internet Explorer and AOL). Use AOL all the time for research and to send E Mails, etc. Happens when I open AOL. Since it's a free AOL I cannot reach anyone to help on this. Appreciate any help.

A lot of websites had to revoke their certificates and issue new ones recently due to the Heartbleed bug in OpenSSL. Most of the advice I've found on the web is to configure your web browser to simply not check for revoked certificates, but I feel this is unwise from a security perspective. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice of my own as to what to do here. A thorough Google search for Heartbleed, revoked certificate, the exact error message you are getting, etc. may yield a better answer than "disable checking" (i.e. most web advice) and "I don't know" (my advice).

If the site is using JAVA then you need to update your java so it works with the site.

Thanks for all your replies. I fixed the error problem myself. Went to Internet Options and hit the "advanced" section and scrolled down to the Certificate section and UNCHECKED it. That did the trick.

Other things that affect certificate revocation are Time Zone Settings, Date and Time Mismatch, and Proxy Setting Issues.

Certificate revocation is an important security measure implemented in browsers as a security measure to verify sites' authenticity, often when using an encrypted connection.
